Journal “Алтаистика. Altaistics" is an online publication founded in 2021 as a series of scholarly periodical "Vestnik of the North-Eastern Federal University”.

The decision to create a new electronic series of the journal “Vestnik of the North-Eastern Federal University" - "Altaistika" was adopted at a meeting of the Scientific and Technical Council of the NEFU on February 19, 2021.

The journal "Altaistika" is focused primarily on the interests of linguists specializing in the languages ​​of the Altai community, but this does not limit the range of the issues reviewed. In recent years, there has been a growing need for interdisciplinary approaches in studying the nature of the relationships of different peoples, in particular, geneticists and linguists are trying to correlate their genetic and linguistic codes. To determine the universal patterns of linguistic processes that took place centuries ago and are currently taking place, mathematical modeling methods can be used, there is an urgent need to consolidate efforts with IT specialists to fix and digitalize cultural heritage objects of peoples whose languages ​​and culture are on the verge of extinction.
