Methods of translation into Yakut of terms functioning in the periodical press of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)

At present, an increasing number of foreign and Russian terms belong to various spheres of society and the main means of their functioning are the mass media, including newspapers. The problem of their transmission in the Yakut language in the republican press is topical of our work. The goal of the work is to determine the means of translation into Yakut of terms functioning in the republican newspaper «Sakha sire», Yakut republican socio-political weekly newspaper «Kyym», the official press body of the National Assembly (Il Tumen) of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) newspaper «Il Tumen» and Namsk Oblast newspaper «Encieli». The theoretical and methodological basis of the article were the works of V. M. Leichik, K. J. Averbuch, A. G. Anisimova, D. S. Lotte, A. A. Reformed, E. I. Okoneshnikov, V. I. Byganova, M. Borisova and others. On the basis of the comparative analysis, we have reached the following conclusions: firstly, the newspapers «Sakha sire», «Kyym», «Il Tumen», «Enzieli» when translating the terms prefer this way of translation, as smooth borrowing. Second, the method of transformation translation is used in 36 terms. Third, the calculation method is used to translate 22 terms. Descriptive translation is used to translate 6 terms. In addition to these methods of translation, the national press traces the way of variant translation of terms. The transfer of terms of various spheres and fields of life in the Yakut language enriches not only the reader’s vocabulary, but also contribute to the expansion of the literary language.
