Abstract

The relevance of the study of beauty industry terminology is determined by the following factors: the relatively recent establishment of this field as an independent industry; 2) the insufficient study of the terminological system of the beauty sphere; 3) the importance of translating terminology into the Yakut language; 4) the dissemination of knowledge in the field of the beauty industry and the emergence of relevant popular science publications. The purpose of the study was to systematize, analyze, and develop principles for translating beauty industry terminology into the Yakut language. The objectives included: selecting and thematically classifying beauty industry terms; analyzing the historical use of this lexicon in Yakut literature and in the works on the Yakut language by Alexei Kulakovsky; translating the beauty industry terms; identifying and describing the translation techniques used; analyzing the use of the Yakut language in signage, advertisements, and price lists of beauty salons in Yakutsk; developing practical recommendations and translation options. The research methodology was based on an integrated approach. The research material consisted of 115 terms selected by the method of continuous sampling from specialized sources. Furthermore, descriptive, statistical, and analysis methods were used. The terminology was systematized into 17 thematic groups and translated into Yakut; the main translation methods were identified and tested; the limited use of the Yakut language in the materials of beauty salons in Yakutsk was established; practical recommendations for translation were developed. Conclusions: the research demonstrates the necessity of a systematic approach to translating beauty industry terminology into the Yakut language. The developed solutions contribute to the enrichment of the Yakut language vocabulary and can be applied in the practical activities of the beauty industry.
